Dart (Dublin Area Rapid Transport)

The DART railway links the towns along the east coast of Dublin with the city centre running from Howth to Greystones. The service is pretty regular.

Luas - Dublin's Tram

Luas is Dublin's light rail tram system. It consists of 2 lines, the Red Line, running from Connolly Station in the city centre to Tallaght in the south-west of Dublin, and the Green Line, from St Stephen's Green in the centre to Sandyford in the south-east. Currently there is no public transport linking the two. To get from one to the other is a 15 minute walk down Grafton Street, across College Green and up O'Connell Street to Abbey Street. Altenatively try taking one of the pedal-powered ecocabs which is free of charge.

Dublin airport

Dublin Airport is approximately 10 km (6 miles) north of Dublin city centre. The airport is near the M50 and M1 motorways and served by regular buses from the city centre and nearby train stations.It is also serviced by the excellent aircoach shuttle which runs a regular punctual service. Though you should always allow for Dublin traffic which can be hectic during peak times. Short term and long term car parking available and can be booked online.

The Dublin Aircoach provides a 24-hour luxury coach service between Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre and south Dublin county. At Dublin airport you will find the Aircoach stop is just outside the arrivals hall door and across the pedestrian crossing. Tickets can be purchased at airport arrivals at Dublin airport or you can simply purchase one from the driver when boarding the Aircoach at any stop.

Dublin Ferry ports

Dublin is served by two international ferry ports: Dublin Port, to the west of the City Centre, and Dun Laoghaire Harbour, approximately 12km south of Dublin the city in County Dublin. Car and passenger ferry services run from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and from Dublin to Holyhead, Liverpool, and Douglas on the Isle of Man.

Due to heavy traffic getting around by bus can be slow in some spots but is a good way to see Dublin especially with the introduction of quality bus corridors in Dublin which allow buses to bypass traffic in many area. Bus stops for Dublin Bus are green and list by number the buses that stop there. The bus service commences at 6am and buses run every 10 to 20 minutes until 11:30pm. If you plan to use the bus two or more times in a day it's more economical to get a one-day pass. is the main nationwide bus service. It offers a regular bus service and is the primary mode of transport (and the cheapest) to other areas of the country. You can go to their website, and check the timetable and services they offer and book them online. Their buses leave Dublin from Busaras on Store Street in the city centre.
