The James Joyce museum is located in the James Joyce Tower, Sandycove. It was one of a series of Martello towers built by the British at a time when they feared an invasion by Napoleon. Sandycove which is a small coastal town situated about eight miles south of Dublin and just beyond Dun Laoghaire. This tower, with its panoramic view, is the perfect setting for a museum dedicated to the life and works of Joyce. It was his short stay here which he writes of in his novel, Ulysses.
