About Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo first opened its gates in 1830 making it the third oldest Zoo in the world. Spanning over 30 acres the zoo provides a naturally landscaped habitat for more than 235 species of wild animals and tropical birds. If you're with kids, or even if you're not, check out the great Children's Pets' Corner and the miniature train ride that provides a great way to see the zoo.
Interesting fact! During the 1916 rising in Dublin, access to the Phoenix Park became difficult and the meat ran out. To keep the lions and tigers alive, some of the other animals in the zoo were killed!
Check out.. The original entrance lodge near the new Zoo entrance. It was built for just £30!
