About St. Audoens Church
St. Audoens Church is Church of Ireland and although it is a National Monument it is still active as a parish church. It is, in fact, the only medieval parish church in Dublin.
Apart from the section of the church still in use, visitors can view the Guild Chapel of St Anne where there is an award-winning exhibition which demonstrates the importance of St Audoen’s Church in the city in medieval times. Other interesting features include the 15th century tomb of Baron Portlester and his wife, the 17th century memorials to the Sparke and D families and the Lucky Stone, a gravestone in the porch, which dates back to 1309. In the church grounds last gateway of the old city along with restored parts of the city’s ancient walls. While your out there admire the 12th century tower from where the bells tolled over the centuries.
